Kids say the darndest things

From the Pleased Dad Department:

I haven't talked to my boys (6 and 4 yrs) about any details of the papacy. We prayed for JPII, and then when we got Benedict XVI, I told them that we got a new pope and that he loves us and prays for us just like Pope John Paul did, etc. I showed them Benedict's picture in the diocese newspaper and when he was on TV, etc. I never mentioned who he was other than "Pope Benedict".

Last night at bedtime prayers, my 4 year old prayed this: "St. Jude, St. Anthony, I love you, thank you, help me to always be a good boy, and help Pope Benedict the Rat Singer." I don't know how he made the Ratzinger-Benedict connection, but he did (in his own little way). I can't imagine what he is picturing in his mind when he says "the rat singer", but his innocent acceptence is wonderful to me.
